These are unique rural constructions built using the dry stone technique. They are also eco-friendly, as their natural stone construction has minimal environmental impact, making them a true engineering marvel.<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>How a Pajara is Built<\/strong><br>Pajare are single-room structures made by stacking stones taken from the land itself, representing one of the most important testimonies of peasant civilization in Salento.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Characteristics of Pajare<\/strong><br>Pajare may look similar to trulli, but they differ in having a small, simple interior with no windows and minimal decoration. They are usually conical in shape, with stones of very different sizes carefully fitted and stacked. The roof is held up by the walls themselves and gravity, making the architecture both ingenious and stable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Traditional Uses<\/strong><br>Farmers used them as homes or as temporary shelters and storage spaces.
